Quorum editor Ron Aiken won Grand Overall Prize Runner-Up at the prestigious 2016 Larry Peterson Memorial Award for Investigative Journalism for his story while at The Nerve on abuse and corruption at the Richland County Recreation Commission. Grand Champion went to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for a series on sex abuse by doctors, while third place went to the Charleston Post & Courier for its reporting on extravagant spending by MUSC’s Board of Trustees.
The awards were open to journalists working in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Alabama, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
